OLD MAN TIMOTHY AND REX

"OLD MAN TIMOTHY AND REX"
(author unknown)

Once upon a time, in the small town of Willowville, lived an extraordinary duo - old man Timothy and his faithful companion, Rex. Now, old man Timothy was no ordinary doctor. He was known throughout the town as the wisest and most caring physician, with a heart as big as the love he had for his patients.
Rex, on the other hand, was no ordinary dog. He was an XL Pitbull with a heart just as large as his size. With his sleek black coat and gentle eyes, Rex had a calming presence that seemed to put everyone at ease. Legend had it that he possessed a magical touch that could heal even the most broken of spirits.
One fateful day, as the sun painted the sky with hues of gold, a local photographer named Emily stumbled upon the doctor's office. Intrigued by the rumours about Rex, she decided to capture their bond in a photograph that would forever etch their story into the town's history.
As Emily entered the dimly lit waiting room, she was greeted by a sight that took her breath away. There, seated amidst a bustling crowd of patients, was Rex himself, his massive frame squeezed into an armchair, patiently observing the room with a wise gaze.
Old man Timothy emerged from his office, his spectacles perched on his nose, and a warm smile spread across his face. "Ah, Miss Emily, welcome to my humble abode," he greeted her, extending a hand in welcome.
Emily marvelled at the peculiar scene before her. Patients of all ages, from the youngest children to the oldest grandmothers, sat contentedly beside Rex, petting him softly as they awaited their turn to see the beloved doctor.
"What brings Rex here, old man Timothy?" Emily inquired, her camera at the ready.
The wise doctor chuckled, his eyes twinkling with delight. "You see, my dear, Rex possesses an extraordinary gift. His presence alone brings comfort and solace to those in need. He has an uncanny ability to sense pain and fear, and his gentle nature soothes even the most troubled souls. So, I thought, why not have him here, by my side, to offer his healing magic to those who seek it?"
Emily was captivated by the doctor's words and began to snap photographs, capturing the essence of their unique companionship. The room filled with laughter and joy as Rex's tail wagged vigorously, spreading happiness like a contagious wave.
Word of old man Timothy and Rex's heart warming bond spread like wildfire throughout Willowville. Patients came from far and wide, not only seeking the doctor's expertise but also the comforting presence of his furry companion.
As years passed, the photograph Emily took that day became an iconic symbol of compassion and healing, reminding the townsfolk of the magic that can be found in the unlikeliest of friendships.
And so, the legend of old man Timothy and Rex, the gentle giant, lived on, inspiring generations to believe in the power of love, kindness, and the extraordinary bond between man and beast.

MARRIED COUPLES

"MARRIED COUPLES" (author unknown)

This really is worth a read.
My husband is an Engineer by profession, I love him for his steady nature, and I love the warm feeling when I lean against his broad shoulders.
Three years of courtship and now, two years into marriage, I would have to admit, that I am getting tired of it. The reasons of me loving him before, has now transformed into the cause of all my restlessness.
I am a sentimental woman and extremely sensitive when it comes to a relationship and my feelings, I yearn for the romantic moments, like a little girl yearning for candy. My husband, is my complete opposite, his lack of sensitivity, and the inability of bringing romantic moments into our marriage has disheartened me about love.
One day, I finally decided to tell him my decision, that I wanted a divorce.
“Why?” he asked, shocked. “I am tired, there are no reasons for everything in the world!” I answered. He kept silent the whole night, seems to be in deep thought with a lighted cigarette at all times. My feeling of disappointment only increased, here was a man who can’t even express his predicament, what else can I hope from him? And finally he asked me:” What can I do to change your mind?”
Somebody said it right, it’s hard to change a person’s personality, and I guess, I have started losing faith in him. Looking deep into his eyes I slowly answered : “Here is the question, if you can answer and convince my heart, I will change my mind, Let’s say, I want a flower located on the face of a mountain cliff, and we both are sure that picking the flower will cause your death, will you do it for me?” He said :” I will give you your answer tomorrow….” My hopes just sank by listening to his response.
I woke up the next morning to find him gone, and saw a piece of paper with his scratchy handwriting, underneath a milk glass, on the dining table near the front door, that goes…. My dear, “I would not pick that flower for you, but please allow me to explain the reasons further..” This first line was already breaking my heart. I continued reading.
“When you use the computer you always mess up the Software programs, and you cry in front of the screen, I have to save my fingers so that I can help to restore the programs. You always leave the house keys behind, thus I have to save my legs to rush home to open the door for you. You love traveling but always lose your way in a new city, I have to save my eyes to show you the way. You always have the cramps whenever your “good friend” approaches every month, I have to save my palms so that I can calm the cramps in your tummy.
You like to stay indoors, and I worry that you will be infected by infantile autism. I have to save my mouth to tell you jokes and stories to cure your boredom. You always stare at the computer, and that will do nothing good for your eyes, I have to save my eyes so that when we grow old, I can help to clip your nails, and help to remove those annoying white hairs. So I can also hold your hand while strolling down the beach, as you enjoy the sunshine and the beautiful sand… and tell you the colour of flowers, just like the colour of the glow on your young face… Thus, my dear, unless I am sure that there is someone who loves you more than I do… I could not pick that flower yet, and die.. ”
My tears fell on the letter, and blurred the ink of his handwriting… and as I continue on reading… “Now, that you have finished reading my answer, if you are satisfied, please open the front door for I am standing outside bringing your favourite bread and fresh milk… I rush to pull open the door, and saw his anxious face, clutching tightly with his hands, the milk bottle and loaf of bread….
Now I am very sure that no one will ever love me as much as he does, and I have decided to leave the flower alone…
That’s life, and love. When one is surrounded by love, the feeling of excitement fades away, and one tends to ignore the true love that lies in between the peace and dullness.
Love shows up in all forms, even very small and cheeky forms, it has never been a model, it could be the most dull and boring form.. . flowers, and romantic moments are only used and appear on the surface of the relationship. Under all this, the pillar of true love stands… and that’s our life… Love, not words win arguments…

ONE MORE DAY by Becky Hemsley 2023

"ONE MORE DAY"
by Becky Hemsley 2023

If I could have just one more day with you…
I would hardly speak. I would simply listen to your voice and commit every tone of it to memory until it became my favourite melody.
I would look at you. I would study your eyes and your mouth, and I would learn every angle, every pane of your face until I could see you perfectly with my eyes closed.
I would hold your hand in mine. I would trace all the lines on your palm until they became a trail – a map - that I could retrace on my own palm every time I felt lost.
I would soak you up and breathe you in until there was not a single thing that I could not recall at a moment’s notice.
But more than anything, if I had one more day with you,
I would hold you.
I would hold you so tight, hoping that maybe if I didn’t let you go…
You wouldn’t.
Yes, if I had just one more day with you, I would hope… I would hope so hard…
that you wouldn’t have to leave again.

LOVE YOURSELF MORE

"LOVE YOURSELF MORE" (author unknown)
Relax. Place your hand on your heart, feel your heartbeat. Say 'I love you', whether silently or out loud, to your heart. Think of how it's been helping keep you alive, since before you were even born. Repeat these 'I love you's' for at least a minute or two, and each time say it more meaningfully and endearing.
Practice moments of gratitude throughout your day. Even during times such as when you're stressed, take a moment and think of all that you're grateful for. Express your gratitude out loud, to the Universe... "I am grateful for ______" or, "Thank you for ______". Make this a habit.. you can even make a list each day of at least 10 things that you're grateful for.
Rewrite your subconscious mind, through repetition, by repeating to yourself words of a high vibration or the words that you wish others would say to you the most.
Exercise. Running, jogging, playing a sport of some kind. Go out in Nature.. explore like a child that was just born and knows nothing but what it sees. Paint, draw, write poetry or express yourself in whatever way you wish. Express the unique gem that you are and share your gifts with the world. Consider practicing sungazing as often as you are able to... recommended first 15 minutes of sunrise and 15 minutes prior to sunset for beginners. Research sungazing for further info or tips.
Practice conscious breathing throughout your day. Notice how often you are unaware of your breath during the day, and thus are being breathed, rather than you consciously breathing. Catch yourself doing so, and take slow, deep conscious inhales through the nose, hold for a second or two, then slow gradual exhale out of your mouth. You came into this life with a breath, and you will leave with one. Combine "birth" and "death" and you basically get the word "breath". The breath affects our emotions as well as our thoughts.
Respond to the callings arising from within, whatever they may be. Whether that is to go read a book, take pictures, help someone out.. anything. Honour it. Spend your energy on, or surround yourself with those whom uplift and inspire you.
Switch up your routine. Rather than living such a structured existence, return to your natural way of living spontaneously.
Go within. Close your eyes and meditate; Be the Breath. Through dedicated practice, the chatter of the mind naturally subsides. Use meditation music or even binaural beats on youtube to assist. Read books. Following the feelings of excitement that you get, they are guidance from your higher Self. Explore the teachings from teachers whose offerings deeply resonate with you. Follow the guidance of synchronicities.
Drink plenty of water throughout the day, perhaps more than you may already. Give up eating processed foods, and even meat if you haven't already and you're feeling called to or are ready to make that change.
Compliment yourself daily. Look at all the things you have done and are doing right. Embrace the totality of who you are.. see all as equal expressions of the whole, even the negative parts that you may not like or wish weren't so. Honour them; perhaps they persist because they've been rejected rather than accepted. Compliment others as well, and see that each Soul is playing a unique role just as important as that of any other Soul.

The Space Adventures of Stella and Sam by English With Mia

"The Space Adventures of Stella and Sam"
by English With Mia
Once upon a time, there were two best friends named Stella and Sam. They lived in a small town where the night sky twinkled with stars. Stella loved stars, and Sam loved anything related to space.
One clear night, while they were stargazing in Stella's backyard, something amazing happened. A shooting star streaked across the sky, and it looked like it landed in the nearby woods.
Excitedly, Stella said, "Sam, did you see that? It looked like a shooting star fell into the woods! Let's go find it!"
Sam's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Yes! Let's go on a space adventure!"
They grabbed their backpacks, a flashlight, and a map of the woods. With eager hearts, they ventured into the forest, following the map and the light of the stars above.
As they journeyed deeper into the woods, the trees seemed to whisper secrets, and the night felt magical. They encountered glowing mushrooms, friendly fireflies, and even heard the soft hoots of an owl.
Finally, they reached a clearing where they found something extraordinary—a spaceship! It was small and shiny, nestled among the trees. Stella and Sam couldn't believe their eyes.
"Wow! A real spaceship!" Stella exclaimed, her face beaming with wonder.
Sam's excitement bubbled over. "Let's explore it!"
They cautiously approached the spaceship and found a door slightly ajar. With a mixture of curiosity and bravery, they entered. Inside, they saw colourful buttons, glowing screens, and strange gadgets.
Stella and Sam pressed buttons, flipped switches, and suddenly, the spaceship hummed to life. Lights flickered, and the spaceship slowly lifted off the ground.
"Whoa! What did we do?" Sam exclaimed, a bit worried.
But Stella grinned. "We're on a space adventure, Sam!"
The spaceship soared high into the starry sky, passing through shimmering constellations and zooming past planets. Stella and Sam marvelled at the beauty of space—they saw shooting stars, swirling galaxies, and even a comet's tail.
After a thrilling ride, the spaceship gently descended back to the clearing where they had found it. Stella and Sam reluctantly left the spaceship, feeling like they had just returned from the most incredible journey.
As they walked home, they shared their amazing adventure with wide smiles and sparkling eyes. They knew that even though they were back on Earth, the memories of their space adventure would stay with them forever.
From that night on, Stella and Sam continued to explore the mysteries of the night sky, always remembering their fantastic space adventure.
And so, Stella and Sam's space adventure became a tale they cherished and shared, inspiring others to look up at the stars and dream of their own magical journeys among them.

BAGGAGE by Becky Hemsley

"BAGGAGE"
by Becky Hemsley 2021

She opens up her suitcase
And it’s loaded to the brim
She simply doesn’t have the room
To squeeze more baggage in
Her hold-all’s filled with years and years
Of things she has endured
But you think she has no hold-all
‘Cause she acts so self-assured
But just because she’s confident
And acts like she’s alright
It doesn’t mean her baggage
Is inconsequentially light
For though her life looks rosy
It doesn’t mean to say
That she doesn’t carry burdens
That weigh her down each day
She’s fought off many monsters
Often swam up from the depths
She’s walked through many fires
And pulled herself back from the edge
So never think she walks on air
When she’s actually walked through hell
You just don’t know her load is heavy
Because she carries it so well
******
It's ok to put a few things down sometimes

THAT SUITCASE UNDER THE BED by Rae Pathak

"THAT SUITCASE UNDER THE BED"
by Rae Pathak

There it was, that feeling again — running away and restarting your life somewhere else. Where? You don't know. Will it change something? You hope. All you do is hope and hope and hope that someday you don't stop believing in this hope you talk about so much. You have lived for almost 27 years and a decade has passed by since you felt this way. Just to be safe, some of you, like me, always keep a suitcase under your bed so that you can fly away whenever you need to. You wonder if other people feel the same.
Sometimes, when you walk into a room, the air suddenly becomes so heavy that you almost suffocate. You don't understand why you feel so lonely around the ones you love and the ones who love you. You have travelled to cities, and countries and none of them feel like home. Or I should say all of them felt like home at one point or another. Your heart has no idea of what it's seeking. It just knows it's not here, not in this place, not in this world.
What if you chase this feeling and keep running away? Will it be easier? Maybe. But you know this, too, that if you don't find home, someday you will run out of the places to run to.
Movies make it seem so easy— figuring out your life after moving elsewhere. But I think it's the hardest. The absence of people and places you love gives you a sense of emptiness. You feel like a foreigner everywhere and if someone loves you even a little, you find yourself tending towards their warmth. It's ephemeral but your reason to look forward to something. But then something happens, and you pack that blue suitcase and move again to an unfamiliar town or country. There is never peace anywhere.
My Mother says that acceptance is control, and denial is losing your sanity. If it's not the way you wanted it, build it. So, I accept and decide to give this life a shot. A real shot. We have to stop daydreaming about leaving and start figuring out the life we are living. And as I have accepted, I have come to realise a wonderful and terrible thing. This feeling of running away? It's never going to leave you. It will always reside in your heart in one way or another. Sometimes, faint and sometimes, a little too intense.
The good part is that you will realise that the life you have been seeking exists within the moments you have lived, the people you have loved, and the places you have stepped your foot in. The warmth of your roommate's lap after a break up, the hugs of your Mother after a long conversation, the phone calls from your sister, the kind smile from that one neighbour in a foreign country, the blue beaches where you have swam in all afternoon, the cold mountains you have made snow angels in, the banyan trees you have sat under— all of it has made you felt right at home in one way or another.
The life you have experienced so far, and the life that you are going to live in the future will all carry these parts of happiness and warmth that you have been seeking. It is not perfect, but it is still there and it will always be there as long as you allow yourself to see it and embrace it.
Maybe, I will always have that suitcase under my bed but I will also have moments when I will genuinely laugh, and come to find things I really cherish. One of these days, I hope you stop running away and learn to stay with yourself, too.
Rae Pathak, friday reminders.

The Gigglesworth Gang's Great Escape by English With Mia

"The Gigglesworth Gang's Great Escape"
by English With Mia
Once upon a time in a cosy little town called Sunnyvale, there lived a group of mischievous but kind-hearted friends known as the Gigglesworth Gang. There was Timmy, the clever raccoon, Rosie, the playful squirrel, Benny, the curious bunny, and Molly, the friendly bluebird. They loved exploring and having fun together.
One sunny morning, the gang gathered near the big oak tree where they usually met. Timmy, with a glint in his eye, chirped excitedly, "I've heard about a mysterious place beyond the town that's filled with amazing treasures! I think we should go on an adventure and find it."
Rosie bounced up and down with excitement, "That sounds like a lot of fun! Let's go, let's go!"
Benny, who was always eager for an adventure, nodded enthusiastically. "Count me in!"
Molly, flapping her wings joyfully, chirped, "I'm ready for an adventure too!"
With their hearts filled with excitement, the Gigglesworth Gang set off on their grand adventure. They journeyed through meadows, crossed babbling brooks, and ventured past the outskirts of Sunnyvale.
As they travelled, they encountered challenges like crossing a wobbly bridge and sneaking past a snoozing bear. But together, using their cleverness and teamwork, they overcame every obstacle.
Finally, after a long journey, they reached a hidden grove filled with shimmering treasures. There were sparkling crystals, colourful gems, and shiny coins scattered around. The gang's eyes widened in amazement.
But their excitement turned into worry when they saw that the treasure was guarded by a grumpy old owl named Ollie, who hooted loudly, "No one should touch my treasures!"
Thinking quickly, Timmy approached Ollie and said, "Dear Mr. Ollie, we didn't mean to disturb you. We just wanted to see the beautiful treasures. We promise we won't take anything."
Ollie, surprised by their politeness, blinked and said, "You know what? You youngsters are respectful. You can explore, but remember, take nothing but memories."
The Gigglesworth Gang gleefully explored the treasures, marvelling at the beautiful sights. They took silly pictures, played hide-and-seek among the gems, and laughed together, making wonderful memories.
As the sun started to set, the gang bid farewell to Ollie and began their journey back home. They chattered about their adventure, feeling happy and content.
When they returned to Sunnyvale, they realized that the real treasure wasn't the shiny gems but the friendship and fun they had shared on their great escape. From that day on, the Gigglesworth Gang knew that no treasure could ever compare to the joy of being together and having amazing adventures.
And so, the Gigglesworth Gang's Great Escape became one of their most cherished memories, reminding them that true treasures are found in friendship and shared adventures.
