My Inner Child by Joanne Boyle

"My Inner Child" by Joanne Boyle
I turned and looked behind me,
and though I couldn't see you there.
I felt compelled to find you,
the problem was just where?
I started on my journey,
reliving times gone by.
Looking for the girl,
the one that used to cry.
Not certain when I'd find you,
or in which memory we would meet.
Would it be in a darkened room,
or a doorway of a street.
Still I kept on walking,
though I feared what id find.
I knew that when I did,
I would give you peace of mind.
I passed through many years,
fought the demons that you faced.
Went to familiar haunts,
your steps I now retraced.
Finally I found you,
all wrapped around yourself.
Hid inside the pantry,
underneath the wonky shelf.
I put my arms around you,
and I whispered in your ear,
the answers for the future,
and that the end was near.
I told you to be strong,
and not to forget your worth.
I told you to keep believing,
in the reason of your birth.
I opened up your mouth,
I kissed you with a dream.
The cold air that you breathed,
would be the fire you redeem.
I brushed your tattered hair,
with a comb of hope.
I washed away your fears,
with a bar of soap.
I prepared you for the future,
for the day that you are me,
and to let go of your demons,
so I could be happy.

DOING NOTHING IS NOT BEING UNPRODUCTIVE by Becky Hemsley 2023

"DOING NOTHING IS NOT BEING UNPRODUCTIVE"
by Becky Hemsley 2023

Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that
doing nothing is doing nothing
for you.
That being unproductive is unproductive
for you.
We’ve gotten so used to being busy,
so used to doing things with visible results,
so used to tracking our steps and logging our activity and ticking things off our to-do list,
that we’ve forgotten the importance of rest.
‘Doing nothing’ and being ‘unproductive’ are actually doing something productive.
They are helping you recharge.
Recoup.
Reading a magazine or having a bath or sitting in the garden with a cup of coffee are not a waste of time.
Time spent rested is not time wasted.
We are not machines.
We are not robots.
We are not here to
constantly work and move and do.
We are human beings.
And sometimes we just need to be.

STAY WITH ME PAPA by Joanne Boyle

"STAY WITH ME PAPA"
by Joanne Boyle

I remember the Man
that would sit me on his knee.
The one that sang me nursery rhymes,
the one I called Daddy.
I remember those walks to school,
and how I'd hold your hand.
I'd skip and sometimes hop,
our days were never planned.
Then when I got a boyfriend,
and he broke my heart in two.
You held me as I cried,
knowing he had broke you too.
You then took me to university,
phoned me every day.
Sometimes I didn't answer,
l was led astray.
Then I met my soul mate.
You walked me down the Isle.
You gave me the perfect wedding,
you done it all in style.
The Grandchildren came along,
loved you as much as I.
You gave us many memories,
for those in which I cry.
I try to help you remember,
to stop you going away.
I keep trying to light those memories,
but they are melting every day.
A Daughter and Her Father,
a story forever to be told.
But only one remembers now,
since Dementia has took hold.

FOR MY DARLING by Sweet and Simple?

"FOR MY DARLING"
by Sweet and Simple?

AND THEN IT IS WINTER You know. . . time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years.
It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life with my mate. Yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went. I know that I lived them all. I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams. But, here it is... the winter of my life and it catches me by surprise...How did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my youth go?
I remember well seeing older people through the years and thinking that those older people were years away from me and that winter was so far off that I could not fathom it or imagine fully what it would be like. But, here it is...my friends are retired and getting grey...they move slower and I see an older person now. Some are in better and some worse shape than me...but, I see the great change....Not like the ones that I remember who were young and vibrant...but, like me, their age is beginning to show and we are now those older folks that we used to see and never thought we'd be.
Each day now, I find that just getting a shower is a real target for the day! And taking a nap is not a treat anymore... it's mandatory! Cause if I don't on my own free will... I just fall asleep where I sit!
And so...now I enter into this new season of my life unprepared for all the aches and pains and the loss of strength and ability to go and do things that I wish I had done but never did!
But, at least I know, that though the winter has come, and I'm not sure how long it will last...this I know, that when it's over on this earth...it's NOT over. A new adventure will begin!
Yes, I have regrets. There are things I wish I hadn't done...things I should have done, but indeed, there are many things I'm happy to have done. It's all in a lifetime.
So, if you're not in your winter yet...let me remind you, that it will be here faster than you think. So, whatever you would like to accomplish in your life please do it quickly! Don't put things off too long!
Life goes by quickly. So, do what you can today, as you can never be sure whether this is your winter or not! You have no promise that you will see all the seasons of your life...so, live for today and say all the things that you want your loved ones to remember...and hope that they appreciate and love you for all the things that you have done for them in all the years past!
"Life" is a gift to you. The way you live your life is your gift to those who come after. Make it a fantastic one.
LIVE IT WELL! ENJOY TODAY! DO SOMETHING FUN! BE HAPPY! HAVE A GREAT DAY!
REMEMBER:....
"It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.
"LIVE HAPPY IN THIS YEAR AND EVERY YEAR!
LASTLY, CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:
TODAY IS THE OLDEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN, YET THE YOUNGEST YOU'LL EVER BE SO - ENJOY THIS DAY WHILE IT LASTS.
~Your kids are becoming you.......
~Going out is good.. Coming home is better!
~You forget names.... But it's OK because other people forgot they even knew you!!!
~You realize you're never going to be really good at anything
~The things you used to care to do, you no longer care to do, but you really do care that you don't care to do them anymore.
~You sleep better on a lounge chair with the TV blaring than in bed. It's called "pre-sleep".
~You miss the days when everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch..
~You tend to use more 4 letter words ... "what?"..."when?"... "what?" . ???
~Now that you can afford expensive jewellery, it's not safe to wear it anywhere.
~You notice everything they sell in stores is "sleeveless"?!!!
~What used to be freckles are now liver spots.
~Everybody whispers.
~You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet.... 2 of which you will never wear.
~But Old is good in some things: Old Songs, Old movies, and best of all, OLD FRIENDS!!
It's Not What You Gather, But What You Scatter That Tells What Kind Of Life You Have Lived.

THE ILLUSION OF BEING...by Tahlia Hunter

"THE ILLUSION OF BEING..."
by Tahlia Hunter

And on the path of self-acceptance,
These twelve illusions you shall shed:
The illusion of being unwanted:
For, in truth, there is no such thing as an unwanted soul.
The illusion of being unlovable:
For your true self is love.
The illusion of unworthiness:
For you are always deserving of love and success.
The illusion of being weird:
For there is no such thing as normal.
The illusion of needing external validation:
For your worth is never dependent on another's approval.
The illusion of being insignificant:
For your presence impacts all of humanity.
The illusion of being powerless:
For within you lies the strength to shape your destiny and influence the world.
The illusion of not being good enough:
For you were born good enough.
The illusion of being a burden:
For your existence is a precious gift, and your contributions add value.
The illusion of being unsuccessful:
For success is subjective, and your path is uniquely yours.
The illusion of being ugly:
Because that label only ever reflects the viewer being incapable of seeing beauty.
And the illusion that aging decreases your value:
For, in truth, you are not a body but a soul.

SISTERS by Joanne Boyle

"SISTERS"
by Joanne Boyle

Let us sit together,
and tell tales of the past.
Let us remember the dreams,
and the hopes we once cast.
Let us meet once again,
be the children we where,
before you disappear
or I can't be there.
Let us laugh like we did,
when we were both young
when we would hide,
when life was fun.
Let us not forget,
the blood that we share,
but instead forget,
those words of despair.
Let us still run free,
no matter of age.
Let us write our chapters,
let me read your page.
Let us be Sisters,
and best friends too.
Let us be Us,
just a Me and a You.

GOODNIGHT, GODBLESS

"GOODNIGHT, GODBLESS"
(author unknown)

I stood by your bed last night; I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying; you found it hard to sleep.
I spoke to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many things and memories of me.
I was with you at the shops today; your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today; you tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my hand on you; I smiled and said, "it's me."
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to me.

LIGHT by Joanne Boyle

"LIGHT"
by Joanne Boyle

Let me be the light
to your darkest day.
Let me be the hope
to help you on your way.
Let me be the vision
of what you hope to find.
Let me be the peace
you need to free your mind.
Let me be your voice
until you find your own.
Let me be the love
that you were never shown.
Let me take the lead
whilst I am feeling strong.
Let me take your load,
let me be the one.
Let me hold the light.
You have come so far.
Now let me see you shine,
like the star you are.
