A LETTER TO CANCER by Joanne Boyle

"A LETTER TO CANCER"
by Joanne Boyle

I can't bring myself to write
the word 'dear' on this paper.
So, I'll Start my letter by asking,
"why you would want to break her?"
I never thought I'd be the person,
that I am since meeting you.
You introduced yourself to My father,
and now my wife too.
You care nothing for your victims.
But do you know what hurts me more?
To see the ones I truly love
crumbling on the floor.
The treatment gives us hope,
that you will disappear.
Still your dirty seed is planted
and we will live in fear.
I'll keep on writing you letters.
I don't suppose you will reply.
But along with our country,
United we will try.

THE ONLY CONSTANT THING IN LIFE by Becky Hemsley

"THE ONLY CONSTANT THING IN LIFE"
by Becky Hemsley

Where light exists, there’s shadow
Where a rose is, you’ll find thorns
And where the dusk descends at night
The sun will rise at dawn
Where fear exists, there’s courage
We are free to be controlled
And where there exists a secret
There’s a story to be told
Each end’s a new beginning
Sometimes lies reveal the truth
And where there is growing old it’s ‘cause
At one time there was youth
If you fail repeatedly
There’s more chance you’ll succeed
But the only guarantee in life
Is nothing’s guaranteed
‘Cause life is contradictory
Where less is often more
It’s a paradox, it’s opposites
A constant upward fall
In a world where silence deafens
And where there is icy heat
Where sometimes things are awfully good
And sometimes bittersweet
So when life’s playing up
Try not to let it get you down
‘Cause sometimes we must lose ourselves
To finally feel found
And you are not alone
So many others feel the same
‘Cause the only constant thing in life
Is that it’s bound to change

OUR THREE LOVES

"OUR THREE LOVES"
(author unknown)

We fall in love with 3 people over the course of our lifetime. Each one has a specific reason. Let me explain...

First loves often occur during youth, and as time passes, we may grow apart or end things due to trivial reasons.

When you get older and more mature you look back and think it was not love. But it actually was.... It was love for what you knew love to be at that point in time.
You have to always remember there are different depths of love.

Now our 2nd Love and this is the hard one....

You get hurt when you fall in love with this person. This one teaches us lessons that we learn from and makes us stronger as a individual.

This love includes a substantial amount of pain, betrayal, abuse, lies, and emotional damage.

But believe it or not, this is the one where we grow the most. We realize what we truly know about love and what we don’t know about love.
So now we put our walls up because we are extremely protective of what the future might hold for us when it comes to relationships.
And naturally we become closed off, suspicious, very careful and slightly scared. But now we know exactly what we want out of a partner and what we definitely do not want.

Our 3rd and final love.

This one comes out of nowhere. No warning. No sign whatsoever. You don’t go looking for this love. It actually finds you. You can put up all the walls in the world, and they will come crashing down just as fast as you built them up in the first place.

You’ll find yourself caring about that person without even trying.
They look nothing like your usual type, but you get lost when you look in their eyes. You don't see any flaws. You see flawless imperfections. You find yourself telling them everything about you and what has melded you into the person you are today.

You want a life with them. You want slow dances in the kitchen, you want walks on the beach under a starry night sky, you want to marry them and have beautiful children that resemble the both of you perfectly.
And every night when you close your eyes before you go to sleep, you catch yourself praying to God and thanking him for the reasons why it has never worked out with anyone else before.

SPRING EQUINOX IS HERE by Brigit Anna McNeill

"SPRING EQUINOX IS HERE"
by Brigit Anna McNeill

Spring equinox is here, a point of balance where we stand with one foot in the darkness of soil and inner worlds and another in the gold and green of leaves, buttery petals and blossom.
This can be a time where new life above the earth brings hope to the heart and can reinforce our own wants and needs to grow and bloom.
Reminding us of long held dreams that long to be made into plans.
Honour your seeds, follow natures guidance and eat dandelion leaves and flowers to support you to shift stagnancy and find something wilder and more alive within. Drink cleavers and get things flowing, eat and drink nettles and let them strengthen your bones, your courage and your energy. Let the wild, remind you of your wild.
Step towards the dance of spring and listen well to what wants to grow within you, to what wants to blossom and root into your days.
Speak to the trees, the new shoots and the returning birds singing growth into the air, speak to the soil, speak to your more than human kin, as they are the ones who remember how to grow, alchemise, compost and bloom, let them know what wants to be grown in the garden of your life and how you are going to tend to it. You never know, they may give you some wisdom when you listen and see how they live and thrive.

TELL ME TOMORROW by Becky Hemsley

"TELL ME TOMORROW"
by Becky Hemsley

Don’t wait til I’m gone
And then stand up to speak
About all the things
That you loved about me
Don’t sing all my praises
Through all of your tears
When I am no longer
Beside you to hear
Don’t leave all that love
Like a secret unsaid
But tell me tomorrow
Or right now instead
And I’ll tell you too
Of the things I admire
About who you are
And how much you inspire
I’ll speak from my heart
Whilst you’re still here to know
“You are” not “you were”
Or “it used to be so”
I’ll speak of your light
Whilst you’ll still hear the words
And not leave that love
In the darkness, unheard
So tell me tomorrow
Or right now - don’t wait
Because we don’t know
When it might be too late
Because we don’t know
When our time might be up
And we need to hear - while we are here -
That we’re loved

BROKEN AND BRUISED by Becky Hemsley

"BROKEN AND BRUISED"
by Becky Hemsley

If a tree falls in the forest
And nobody hears it fall
They say that we could question
If it really fell at all
Yet sometimes we don’t see the sun
Or feel it on our skin
But we know that it’s still shining
And don’t question it exists
If we see a tree in winter
We could think it’s always bare
But we never doubt that one day
Brand new leaves will linger there
And when we see a fire
We don’t tell it to be cold
And it can’t stop itself burning
Just ‘cause that’s what it’s been told
Yet sometimes people tell us
Of the way we make them feel
And it niggles at our conscience
So we tell them it’s not real
“You’re just over-reacting
There’s no need to cry,” we’ll say
“You’re just so over-sensitive
It wasn’t meant that way”
But though our egos may be bruised
By all the things they’ve said
We can’t say how they’re feeling
‘Cause we’re not inside their head
See, if we’re not in the forest
Then it’s not our place to tell
The tree that’s lying broken
That it never actually fell

Mother's and Daughters by Joanne Boyle

"Mother's and Daughters" by Joanne Boyle
I counted your fingers
and then your toes,
as I bent down and kissed
your cute button nose.
A mother's promise was made,
as I held you tight,
that as long as I breathed,
you'd be alright.
I'd accept your decisions
whilst being your guide.
I'd be the ears,
when you were hurting inside.
I'd be your voice
when you could not speak.
I'd be your strength,
when you were weak.
A Mother and her Daughter.
An unbreakable bond.
A hidden magic,
like a magicians wand.
Brought together by blood.
Joined at the heart.
A Mother and her Daughter,
friends from the start.

FAIRYTALE by Becky Hemsley

"FAIRYTALE"
by Becky Hemsley

This is for the princess
Who is trapped up in the tower
You think you have no cards to play
No leverage or power
Because you’ve read the books that start
With ‘once upon a time’
And so you’re waiting
‘Til a handsome prince comes riding by
You’re hoping that your beauty
Is enough to see you through
That he will see a pretty face
And fall in love with you
Well, let me tell a secret
You see, I once thought like this
I thought that thin or pretty
Would deliver true love’s kiss
So I craved a certain number
In the clothes that I would wear
I modified my make-up
And the way I wore my hair
But it’s not quite as simple
As they make out in the books
True love is not determined
By our bodies or our looks
You see, your real beauty’s
Not wrapped up in what you weigh
Your face may bring you suitors
But it will not make them stay
What will is all your courage
And the way your heart is kind
Your spirit, your adventure
And the way you speak your mind
But none of that will matter
Until you can see your worth
The truest love you’ll ever know
Is loving yourself first
So buy your own glass slippers
And take yourself to the ball
Then sing and dance as if
Nobody else is there at all
Let others crave the beauty
That is wrapped within your soul
You’re waiting to be rescued
Just ‘cause that’s what you’ve been told
But with your heart and spirit
You don’t need anyone else
So let your hair down princess
And go and save yourself
