"SISTERS" by Joanne Boyle

"SISTERS" by Joanne Boyle
Remember when we were small
and we would enter the world of play?
You being the older Sister,
always showing me the way.
We would enter a world of magic.
No one there but me and you.
We'd turn our quilts into flying saucers
and fly off to somewhere new.
We would sit with our dolls
and little did we know,
we were learning how to be Mother's
with a bib and baby grow.
When the nights were cold,
I would climb into your bed.
I would try to get inside the dreams,
that went on in your head.
Now we are both older.
We have children of our own,
but the magic never left us
even now we have both grown.
We just found a different magic.
A one that is more real.
It comes straight from the heart.
It's something that we feel.
The years brought us more sparkle
in the lines upon our face
and we found the flying saucers
brought us to our happy place.

"IN MY SHOES" by Becky Hemsley

"IN MY SHOES"
by Becky Hemsley

“If I were in your shoes,” you say
“I wouldn’t feel a thing
Because those shoes look comfortable
And easy to walk in”
“If I were in your shoes,” you say
“I wouldn’t walk as far
I’d work smarter not harder
And I’d still be where you are”
“If I were in your shoes,” you say
“Then I would not complain
We don’t get anywhere in life
Without a little pain”
But you’re not in my shoes
‘Cause if you were you’d realise
It’s not about the shoes as much
As how they feel inside
You see, for years I did not have
Such easy, comfy shoes
And working hard to just get by
Was all that I could do
So go ahead, climb mountains
With nothing on your feet
Run along through mud
Without a thing to keep you clean
Wade across the river
With no boots to keep you dry
Bare your soles and let them burn
As you run through the fire
And when your toes are bleeding,
When your heels are black and blue
When your soles are weary,
Red and raw and swollen too
Yes, when your feet are blistered
And they’re caked in blood and dirt
Then walk a mile in my shoes
And tell me they don’t hurt
******

"AN INTERNAL METRONOME" by Tahlia Hunter

"AN INTERNAL METRONOME"
by Tahlia Hunter

There is an internal metronome
that lies within you
that with each tick,
determines how quickly
you must travel through life.
It whispers to you,
“You must rush through life,
for you are not moving quickly enough,
and if you do not speed up,
you will run out of time
to achieve all of your dreams."
But you may choose to
slow down the metronome
and gently remind it that,
“This life is not a race,
or competition,
or checklist of items to be completed,
but a journey
that was never meant to be rushed
but to be savoured,
for the destination is guaranteed.
And though I may wish to skip certain chapters of my life
in order to reach where I wish to be,
to “kill time,”
is to kill life,
for each second of my life is precious,
and no one second of my life
is greater than another.
And the slower I go,
the faster I may truly travel,
for within each step,
I am truly present.
And it is in the present moment
where all of creation occurs.
And so I will move forward peacefully
at my own pace,
knowing that in each moment,
so long as I am committed to a path of love and continual growth,
I am exactly where I am meant to be."

"THE SECRET OF DETACHMENT" by Tahlia Hunter

"THE SECRET OF DETACHMENT"
by Tahlia Hunter

This is the secret to detachment:
Every person who chooses to enter your life
is their own person.
No person ever belongs to you,
nor you to them.
Whether or not
they are destined to remain in your life
is their choice
as much as it is yours.
And if they should choose to leave,
then you may trust
that you have learned all the lessons
that you needed to learn from them
and that your destiny lies elsewhere.
And if they should choose to leave,
then it is a gift,
for some people belong in your past,
not your future,
and them leaving is making space
for those who will choose to stay.
And though you may wish
that they were still in your life,
your happiness is never dependent on another person
or their actions,
and just because a connection came to an end,
that does not mean that you were wrong for loving that person
or being with them.
And though you may fear letting go
of this connection
because you feel that nothing will ever replace it,
change is the only constant in life,
and this was not your one chance at finding love
or being in a relationship.
And you may live your best life
regardless of who enters or exits your life.
And so you may let go of the tunnel vision
that you feel towards them,
for love is found everywhere in existence,
and you do not need this one person to give it to you.
And the idea that love may be lost
is an illusion,
for love is a part of you
and those we love
forever remain in our stories
and with us in spirit,
as on an energetic level,
separation is an illusion,
and so we are never truly grieving them,
only our attachment to how we feel things should have been.
But just because it did not last,
that does not mean that it was not worthwhile,
for there is no such thing as a failed relationship,
only two people who have outgrown one another
or whose paths are moving in separate directions.
And so you may let them go with love,
trusting that life will lead you to the places you are meant to be
and the people you are meant to be with,
but should you choose to,
you will always remain connected.

"THERE IS A SPECIAL PLACE" By John Anthony Elliott

"THERE IS A SPECIAL PLACE"

By John Anthony Elliott  ©2007

There is a place in life

that needs my special skill

A certain job I'm meant to do

that no one else can fill.

The hours may be demanding

and the pay is not too good

And yet I wouldn't change it for a moment,

even if I could!

There is a place in life

a goal I must attain

A dream that I must follow

for I won't be back again.

There is a mark that I must leave

however small it be,

A legacy of love

for those who follow after me!

There is a place in life

that only I may share

A path that bears my name

awaiting me somewhere.

There is a hand that I must hold

a word that I must say,

A smile that I must give

for there'll be tears to blot away.

There is a place in life

that I was meant to fill,

A sunny spot

where flowers grow upon a windy hill.

There's always a tomorrow

and the best is yet to be,

And somewhere in the world, I know,

there's a Special Place for me!

"IF TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME"

"IF TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME"
(true author unknown)

When tomorrow starts without me,
And I'm not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
all filled with tears for me,
I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things,
We didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
and each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too.
But when tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name,
And took me by the hand,
and said my place was ready,
In heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind
All those I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away,
A tear fell from my eye
For all my life, I'd always thought,
I didn't want to die.
I had so much to live for,
So much left yet to do,
It seemed almost impossible,
That I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays
The good ones and the bad,
I thought of all the love we shared,
and all the fun we had
If I could re-live yesterday
Just even for a while,
I'd say good-bye and kiss you
And maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized,
That this could never be,
For emptiness and memories,
would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things,
I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did,
My heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven's gates,
I felt so much at home
When God looked down and smiled at me,
From His great golden throne.
He said, "This is eternity,
And all I've promised you."
Today your life on earth is past,
But here life starts anew
I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last,
And since each day's the same way
There's no longing for the past.
You have been so faithful,
So trusting and so true.
Though there were times
You did some things
You knew you shouldn't do.
But you have been forgiven
And now at last you're free.
So won't you come and take my hand
And share my life with me?
So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here, in your heart.

"AS TIME GOES BY" by Donna Ashworth

"AS TIME GOES BY"
by Donna Ashworth

As time goes by,
You will loosen your grip on that rock,
The one you always thought was home,
And you will realise that home is not a place,
It’s a state of mind.
Let it go.
As time goes by,
You will learn to see yourself more clearly,
The girl who was always too much of one thing,
And too little of another, was actually
Everything she needed to be.
Let her out.
As time goes by,
You will let the simple things become the big,
And you will allow the big things to become the simple,
And that readjustment will be,
The day you really start to live,
Let it be.
As time goes by,
You will be forced to say goodbye many times,
And your soft little heart will shatter but,
It will still beat and that will bring you,
All the purpose you need.
Let it beat.
As time goes by,
You will stop choosing wealth over peace,
You will stop choosing money over time,
And you will see that the treasures you need,
Are in the smiles and the laughter.
Let them in.
As time goes by,
The moments you remember when your life flashes past,
Are never the awful memories my friend, it’s the joy,
The summer nights, the lazy days with loved ones,
The midnight chats and the morning hugs,
Let them happen.
