"I STOPPED" by Lim Teck Yong

"I STOPPED"
by Lim Teck Yong

I once asked a very successful woman to share her secret with me. She smiled and said to me…
“I started succeeding when I started leaving small fights for small fighters.
I stopped fighting those who gossiped about me…
I stopped fighting with my in laws…
I stopped fighting for attention…
I stopped fighting to meet peoples expectation of me…
I stopped fighting for my rights with inconsiderate people..
I stopped fighting to please everyone…
I stopped fighting to prove they were wrong about me….
I left such fights for those who have nothing else to fight…
And I started fighting for my vision, my dreams, my ideas and my destiny.
The day I gave up on small fights is the day I started becoming successful & so much more content.”
Some fights are not worth your time….. Choose what you fight for wisely.

"A VERSE FOR YOU MY LOVE" by Ann Marie

"A VERSE FOR YOU MY LOVE"
by Ann Marie

As seasons change and years unfurl,
The heart recalls a vanished world,
A love once close, now far away,
Grows deeper missed with each passing day.
The first year's shock has come and gone,
But absence lingers with the dawn,
The silent spaces speak your name,
In every shadow, still the same.
The laughter shared, the whispered dreams,
The love that flowed in endless streams,
Now echoes in a quiet room,
Where memories dance and softly loom.
They say that time will ease the pain,
Yet here I stand, in grief's refrain,
Missing you more than words can tell,
In every detail, I know well.
Your spirit, though, remains so near,
In every thought, I hold you dear,
A guiding light through darkest night,
A gentle touch when nothing's right.
So here's a verse for you, my love,
A testament to what we're made of,
For missing you is love's own face,
A timeless bond, no years erase.

"OKAY" by Becky Hemsley

"OKAY"
by Becky Hemsley

Sometimes it takes nothing
And sometimes a little more
Sometimes just the smallest step
Will get you out the door
Sometimes it takes only
Just the tiniest breath in
Sometimes just a pause
And you are able to begin
But sometimes just that little step
Feels like a giant leap
And where that leap will take you
Feels too dizzying and steep
Sometimes that small breath
Feels like it’s trapped inside your throat
As if you’re underwater
And you cannot stay afloat
Sometimes when you pause
It’s like you’re rooted to the spot
Tied up in disquiet
With your stomach in a knot
Sometimes it takes nothing
And sometimes a little more
Sometimes life feels harder
Than the way it felt before
Yes, sometimes it takes all your strength
To go about your day
And sometimes it takes everything
To simply be okay

"SIGNS" by Becky Hemsley

"SIGNS"
by Becky Hemsley

There's a robin on my fence today,
A feather by my feet
A heart-shaped leaf that blows along
Beside me down the street
Your song played on the radio
This morning in the car
And just last night I could've sworn
I saw a shooting star
The sun and rain are dancing
Making rainbows in the sky
And on the slightest breeze I watch
A butterfly go by
And people might say these are not
The signs I know they are
That it is just coincidence
Your song played in the car
That it is just the sky
And it is just the birds and breeze
A little windy weather
And the nature of the trees
But there is nothing little
About the way they make me feel
The sense of peace they carry
Is both comforting and real
Because it's just one song
And just one butterfly and bird
Just one star and just one leaf
In one enormous world
And so the probability
Of noticing it all
Is close to nearly nothing;
Almost infinitely small
And that is how I know
That when that leaf floats into view
It isn't a coincidence,
But a sign of love from you
So keep on shooting stars to me,
Keep playing me your song
Whilst you dance atop the rainbows
And blow heart-shaped leaves along
Yes, keep on sending signs my love
I'll always look around
For your butterflies on breezes
And your feathers on the ground"

"I SHALL BE THE MOON" by Joanne Boyle

"I SHALL BE THE MOON"
by Joanne Boyle

I stood in the shadows of daylight,
so that I could see you shine.
I didn't mind being unnoticed.
Being in the background was just fine.
You didn't know that I was watching.
Just like I did back in the day.
I find myself still laughing now,
at the things that you would say.
Everybody you met loved you.
You were like a breath of fresh air.
Something about your presence
made everyone stop and stare.
You brought joy to every moment.
Lit up the room with your big smile.
Nobody but I saw the real you
that would surface once in a while.
It was then I'd come from the shadows.
I didn't mind being second best.
I just knew you like no other,
and knew when you needed to rest.
You cared so much for others.
You forgot to care about you.
I could see the sun going down
and what you were going through.
Now you watch me from the shadows,
as I try to be your light.
And with every breathe I take
I will be your fight.
I miss being In the shadows.
I will go back there soon.
Once again you will be the sunshine
and I shall be the moon.

"LIVING" by Becky Hemsley

"LIVING"
by Becky Hemsley

Life in its essence is breaths that we take
Our very next breath is just seconds away
And breathing ensures we survive, we exist
But being alive is a lot more than this
It's climbing a mountain then looking back down
To see where you started and where you are now
It's loving the view that you see from up there
With the earth at your feet and the wind in your hair
It’s meeting with friends to catch up over tea
And laughing until you forget how to breathe
It’s dancing all night ‘til your feet wind up sore
And singing along ‘til your throat feels raw
It’s walking the beach and it's watching the tide
It’s finding a shell to hear oceans inside
It's flying ‘til you can see clouds from above
It's counting the stars and it's falling in love
It's watching the sun rise and watching it set
It’s gathering moments you'll never forget
The moments that teeter and flutter between
A world full of wonder and one of routine
So breathe in and out - it'll keep you alive
But know that you're here to do more than survive
You’re here to let music dance on through your veins
To climb to the top of the mountain again
To see yourself fly and to feel your heart leap
The world is a show and you’ve got front row seats
So in the next seconds, when you breathe on in
Remember the wonder of life that’s within
‘Cause taking a breath keeps you living for sure
But the breath taking moments?
They’re what we live for

"The Enchanted Locket" by John A Elliott 2024

"The Enchanted Locket"
by John A Elliott 2024

In the quaint village of Mistwood, where ancient oaks whispered secrets and fireflies danced in twilight, lived a girl named Evelyn. Evelyn had eyes like moonstones and a heart that hungered for adventure. She spent her days exploring the mossy forests and listening to the wind’s ancient tales.

One misty morning, as dew clung to spiderwebs, Evelyn stumbled upon an antique shop tucked away in a forgotten alley. Its sign swung on rusty hinges, and the windows were veiled with dust. The bell above the door jingled as she stepped inside, and the air smelled of aged wood and forgotten dreams.

The shopkeeper, an elderly woman with silver hair, greeted Evelyn with a knowing smile. “Ah, my dear,” she said, “you seek more than trinkets, don’t you?”

Evelyn nodded. Her gaze fell upon an exquisite silver locket displayed in a velvet-lined case. Its delicate filigree held a tiny sapphire, its blue depths shimmering like forgotten memories.

“An heirloom,” the shopkeeper whispered. “Passed down through generations. But beware, dear child—it carries a secret.”

Evelyn’s heart fluttered. She purchased the locket, its clasp cool against her skin. As she fastened it around her neck, the sapphire pulsed with life. The mirror on the locket’s back reflected her face, but something else lingered—a hidden doorway.

That night, as moonlight spilled through her window, Evelyn touched the sapphire. The locket trembled, and suddenly, she stood in a moonlit glade. Trees whispered her name, and stars wove constellations above.

This enchanted realm held forgotten magic. Evelyn met luminous sprites who danced on dew-kissed petals and whispering willows that shared ancient prophecies. She followed silver threads that led to timeless lakes, their waters reflecting lost dreams.

But as days turned into weeks, Evelyn missed her cosy room in Mistwood—the smell of rain on her window, her grandmother’s bedtime stories, and the warmth of her quilt. She longed for human connection beyond mystical beings.

The locket appeared, its sapphire glowing. “Two choices remain,” it murmured. “Stay or return.”

Evelyn gazed at the moonlit glade, then stepped back through the locket. The bell above the shop door jingled, and the shopkeeper smiled.

“Did you find what you sought?” she asked.

Evelyn nodded. “I found magic,” she said, “but my heart belongs to both realms.”

And so, Evelyn balanced her life—threads of curiosity and moments of nostalgia. She wove her own tale, one that whispered through moonlit glades and silvered memories.

As for the locket? Well, that remains a secret, waiting for another curious soul to touch the sapphire and discover the enchanted threads that bind worlds together.

"LET US ALL MAKE MEMORIES" by Joanne Boyle

"LET US ALL MAKE MEMORIES"
by Joanne Boyle

Let us all walk together
into the month of July.
With hearts full of kindness
for both you and I.
It is a month the sunshine
comes out to play,
and to the tune of summer
all of the flowers sway.
July is for jumping
and for endless fun.
A month of beauty
underneath a shining sun.
Children play outdoors.
Roundabouts and swings.
Sandcastles and water
and many wonderful things.
July also brings with it
Independence day.
A celebration for all
In the U.S.A.
The schools break up
so we can stay up till dark.
We can play hop scotch
and dance in the park.
Let us all make memories
to store in our hearts,
for us to look back on
when each new month starts.
