A PERFECT FIT by Becky Hemsley

"A PERFECT FIT"
by Becky Hemsley 2021

I take his hand in my hand
And our fingers knit together
In a way we give no thought to
Like it’s been this way forever
My hip supports the little one
Who sits there on my left
For it’s there she hears my heartbeat
And it calms her through my chest
They hug me and I hug them back
And gently rest my head
In the warm and waiting me-shaped nook
That’s carved against their neck
He leads me to the dance floor
As the music starts to play
And my hand sits on his shoulder
Whilst his arm’s around my waist
Each part is like a jigsaw piece -
Each hand and neck and hip
And they’re waiting on the moments
Where they’re destined just to fit
See it doesn’t seem to matter
Whether family, friend or lover
It’s just amazing how we humans
Are designed to hold each other
❤️❤️❤️

I LOVE YOU by John Anthony Elliott

"I LOVE YOU"
by John Anthony Elliott 2023 revised

I love you in the morning,
I love you through the night,
I love you every day I live,
When we're close together,
And when you're out of sight.
I love your hair that sparkles,
And the way you smile at me,
I love the way we laugh and joke,
And tease so happily.
I love the things you do and say,
The times we share as one,
I love the way you love to care,
With you I'm not alone.
I love the way you wrinkle,
Your nose up when you glare,
Even when you're mad at me,
And I get the dreaded stare.
I love the gentle way you kiss,
A whisper on my lips,
You keep me in a state of bliss,
From head to finger tips.
I love everything about you,
The special things you say and do,
So please don't ever change,
ANYTHING that makes you, YOU.....

THERE IS A SPECIAL PLACE By John Anthony Elliott

"THERE IS A SPECIAL PLACE"
By John Anthony Elliott  ©2007

There is a place in life

that needs my special skill

A certain job I'm meant to do

that no one else can fill.

The hours may be demanding

and the pay is not too good

And yet I wouldn't change it for a moment,

even if I could!

There is a place in life

a goal I must attain

A dream that I must follow

for I won't be back again.

There is a mark that I must leave

however small it be,

A legacy of love

for those who follow after me!

There is a place in life

that only I may share

A path that bears my name

awaiting me somewhere.

There is a hand that I must hold

a word that I must say,

A smile that I must give

for there'll be tears to blot away.

There is a place in life

that I was meant to fill,

A sunny spot

where flowers grow upon a windy hill.

There's always a tomorrow

and the best is yet to be,

And somewhere in the world, I know,

there's a Special Place for me!

AUTUMN by John Anthony Elliott 2023

"AUTUMN"
by John Anthony Elliott 2023 revised

Sunlight streams through window pane,

Hues of orange/yellow filled my waking eyes,

Meadow larks sang their chirpy tune,

Summer has gone, but will come again.

Trees who's leaves are golden brown,

Blowing gently, in the morning breeze,

Sky so clear with its shade of blue,

Autumn comes to a sleepy Town.

Cocooned in quilt of feathery down,

Warm and snug I idly lay,

Eyes still sleepy from my dreams,

I arise to face another day.

Smoke from yonder factory puffs,

workers drifting to their work,

golden leaves about their heads,

As wind blows o'er the terraced roofs.

Crisp & crunchy underfoot, icy leaves galore,

Jack frost's nipping old and young,

fingers numb with cold,

Days are growing ever shorter, Autumn is no more.

AUTUMN YEARS By John Anthony Elliott 2023

"AUTUMN YEARS"
By John Anthony Elliott ©2023 revised

Although we may be entering,
The autumn of our years.
And the spring of youth has long
   since past us by.

Although we may be aging,
Far faster than we thought,
And our grey hairs and wrinkles
    multiply.

Although we may pass further,
Into our winter years ahead,
Through the cosy nights we'll spend
   and share as one.

Although we won't remember,
All the things we did and said,
And the days begin to merge off into one.

Although the years in front of us,
May seem so far away,
See how quickly all the seasons come,
Then go astray.

But with love in our hearts,
We've a joyous song to sing,
Both, will keep us happy, snug and warm,
For the many years ahead,
That life decides to bring....

TEACH A LITTLE MAN by Michael Cunliffe

"TEACH A LITTLE MAN" by Michael Cunliffe 2021
Teach a little man
To hold his brother’s hand.
Teach a little man
By his sister’s side to stand.
Teach a little man
To touch with gentle hands,
To ride the waves to land
Instead of drawing lines
In the shifting sands.
Teach a little man
To take little steps,
To walk with open eyes
And offer helping hands.
Teach a little man
That his words are his own
And by their impact
He will long be known.
Teach a little man to feel,
His heart not to conceal,
And that with his tears
He may come to heal.
Teach a little man
To be still, to stand,
To find a quiet place
To feel the wind upon his face.
Teach a little man to listen,
Hear the birdsong in the trees,
To touch the flowers in spring
And seek his inner peace.

TOO LATE by Becky Hemsley 2023

"TOO LATE"
by Becky Hemsley 2023

When we are young, we want to look older.
And when we are old, we want to look younger.
And there is a window in the middle of it all when we’re supposed to look as we wish.
But we waste that time wishing
we were taller or thinner or curvier,
our hair was longer or shinier, curlier,
parts of our body were firmer and perkier
and we’d started to use anti-wrinkle cream earlier.
And by the time we realise we were perfect just as we were,
the window has closed. It is too late.
Too late to realise that all those things never really mattered in the first place.
But it’s never too late to start letting go.
To stop wanting, stop wishing.
It’s never too late to accept yourself.
To look in the mirror and realise that all along, you never needed to look older or younger or anything else.
You just needed to look like you.

THIS IS THE WORLD WE LIVE IN

"THIS IS THE WORLD WE LIVE IN"
(author unknown)

IS IT A MAN'S OR WOMEN'S WORLD? read on and comment below...
• When a man has a good car it attracts more ladies to him. When a lady has a good car it repels guys away from her. This is the world we live in.
• A teenage boy impregnates his teenage girlfriend. The girl drops out of school, the boy continues his education. This is the world we live in.
• A guy catches his girlfriend with another guy, he fights his girlfriend. A lady catches her guy with another lady, she fights the other lady. This is the world we live in.
• The older a man becomes, the higher the number of ladies available for him. The older a lady becomes the fewer the number of guys available for her. This is the world we live in.
• A 76 year old man can still marry a 26 year old lady. A 36 year old lady is tagged too old to get married. This is the world we live in.
• A man looses his wife to death and remarries a year after, he did the right thing, he's being praised and congratulated for moving on, after all life is for the living.
• A woman looses her husband to death and remarries after 4yrs, "aaah! so early? Are u sure she wasn't sleeping with that man even when her husband was alive? That was why she killed her husband. This is the world we live in.
• A married man is caught in bed with another woman, his wife is asked to forgive him and move on. A married woman is caught in bed with another man, the husband asks her to leave his house. This is the world we live in.
• If a man rises to be the CEO of the company, he got there by hard work and determination. If a woman rises to be the CEO of the company, even if the staff are all women, she is suspected to get there by sleeping with the board members. This is the world we live in.

Some people will read this post and will neither like nor comment on it and won't even add me for more just because I am not yet a CELEBRITY forgetting that they can make me one..
This is the strange world and the group that we live in

TOMORROW by Rachel from Finding Joy Blog

"TOMORROW"
by Rachel (from Finding Joy Blog)

I lived a life for many years waiting for tomorrow.
Tomorrow I’ll start running.
Tomorrow I’ll call that friend.
Tomorrow I’ll read that book.
Tomorrow I’ll tackle that room.
Tomorrow I’ll speak up.
Tomorrow I’ll try out for that part.
Tomorrow I’ll plan that trip.
Tomorrow I’ll take time for me.
Tomorrow, when the kids are grown, is really what I was telling myself.
Tomorrow, when the kids are grown, I’ll really take time for myself because only then do I think I’m worth taking the time. Tomorrow when all the things that need to get fixed will I do all the things that need me to be brave. That’s what I was really telling myself. It’s not easy to admit those kind of thoughts. We tuck them behind mom guilt and yet, when asked, those are the moments where the tears well up in one’s eyes.
Living for tomorrow means that you think you will have many many tomorrows.
Here’s the real truth:
It means, at some level, you believe your life is invincible.
Humbling, isn’t it? I so quickly forget that truth until those moments where it’s smack in my face. Maybe it’s easier to live without that urgency. Maybe we get caught up in the frenzy of motherhood.
What, just what happens, if you stop with the excuse of the perpetual tomorrow and you start living today? What will you teach your kids then? You won’t teach them that a mom gives up on her dreams and her passions and gets burnt out. You will teach them that it is just as noble and just as wise to not forget you.
Remember when you were young? The dreams, the possibilities, the excitement of when you were grown?
Don’t lose that. This is your now.
Sometimes we just get so busy and so bogged down by life that all of that seems foolish, unwise and if there isn’t the time. Trust me.
You are worth the time.
I know you have dreams. I also know you have dishes. I know you have hopes. I also know you have kids who either rebel or throw up or don’t want the shirt with the lion on front and you are late and don’t want to deal with changing it or well, you get the picture. You are a mom.
But, dear sister, just because you are a mom does not mean that you get a pass on yourself.
You don’t get to quit taking care of you.
You don’t get to wait until tomorrow to find your spark again.
You get now.
Sometimes it will mean tough stuff. It means looking at all the excuses that you have built and deciding to go the other way. It might mean giving up something to gain something better.
But you are worth your tomorrow today.
You are worth living with vibrancy and excitement.
Don’t worry. It’s not going mean that you deny being a mom, buy a plane ticket and fly to Europe. It simply means that you will remember you with the same tenacity that you remember your kids. I bet your kids doctors appointments are up to date and you make sure they eat well and have a good education. That goes for you too.
Not tomorrow.
Today.
So I challenge you, wait, I dare you – do one thing today that is about you finding you, finding joy or just makes you happy. I dare you to start living today like it was your tomorrow. No excuses, no putting you last, no more waiting.
You see, if you burn out, what good are you to everyone around you who needs you?
Ponder that.
Live today doing everything you put off for tomorrow.
I dare you.
who lives today like it was tomorrow.
